A Startling Geography Lesson



A map was released at last Thursday's annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, showing that human activity has heavily affected 41 percent of the world's ocean-covered area, with no area left completely untouched. The scientific findings were a result of research spanning four years. The study was published in Friday's issue of the journal Science.

Welcome to Greener Roots!

This blog is being launched under the auspice of a class, but is driven by an individual passion for environmental awareness efforts. My research will tap into various sources, including the most recent scientific findings, public opinions, and personal narratives. At the heart of this project is highlighting the path of a college environmentalist on the cusp of being thrown into the real world—with all its criticisms and applause. But more broadly, this story will give an accurate diagnoses of today's green movement and the many sectors of society it may soon collide with, if it hasn't done so already.
